Salsa Classes
Take a structured class with our experienced and highly motivated instructors. They are committed to helping you achieve the best results with your dancing during eight-week blocks.

Our emphasis is on ensuring our students fully understand the basic elements, fundamental step patterns and lead / follow techniques. So you will be dancing LA Style Salsa in no time.

For further explanation on the levels 1 to 5, please visit our salsa skills page.

Beginner Salsa Classes (level 1)
This is a set syllabus for absolute beginners or those transferring from another beginner course. You will learn the basics and fundamentals that are required to dance salsa. It should only take one block (8 weeks) to learn the beginner syllabus, however there is no pressure to move to the next level. Feel free to repeat the syllabus until you feel comfortable to progress.

The class will always start with a beginner Latin Cardio (shines) warm-up session.

There will also change over between the beginner and improver class. This will be used as the Latin Cardio (shines) warm-up session for improvers and beginners are very welcome to try this shines section only. If you wish to attend the whole improver class extra fees will apply.

Improver Salsa Classes (level 2& 3)
This is a set syllabus for those who have completed our beginners syllabus or transferring from another completed beginner course. You will learn variations and brand new step patterns to help improve your salsa dancing skills. You will learn the improvers syllabus over three blocks (24 weeks) before receiving any repeated material. Feel free to repeat the syllabus until you feel comfortable to progress.

The class will always start with a Latin Cardio (shines) warm-up session. This is a change over between beginner and improver classes so beginners may join in this shines session.

After the improver class there will be a brief social dance session to use as practice.

There will also be a Latin Cardio (shines/freestyle) session at the start of the intermediate class. Improvers are very welcome to try this shines section only. If you wish to attend the whole intermediate class extra fees will apply.

Intermediate Salsa Classes (level 4 & 5)
This is an open syllabus class for those who have completed our beginners and improvers syllabus. It is recommended that you fully understand the fundamentals learnt in the other levels as they will not be re taught in this class. Brand new, more complex combinations will be taught frequently to help build your repertoire. Also in this class you will learn styling, musical interpretation and how to transpose your ON1 salsa to popular ON2.

This class always starts with a Latin Cardio (shines/freestyle) warm up. This will not always be just salsa. This is part of the intermediate class, however improvers are very welcome to try this freestyle section only. If you wish to attend the full intermediate class, extra fees will apply.

Ladies Shines Team
For those keen salsa dancers who wish to perform, we will work towards dance works that can be performed throughout the year at various functions. Let us know if you want to be a part of this opportunity.

Latin Cardio (Freestyle Salsa Shines)
The session will include fancy footwork layered with styling, sensual Afro-Brazilian and Cuban- Rumba body movement and will be combined with Rumba, Bachata, Cha Cha, Salsa, Jive and Brazilian music. Learn to dance step patterns without needing a partner.

The focus will be learning step patterns, layering them with styling and body movement and combining them into fun routines. A chance to get your heart rate up whilst discovering your SABORE (style / flavor).

Casino de Rueda
Casino Rueda is a particular type of round Salsa dancing. As the names suggests “Rueda” means wheel, so of course the dance is performed in a circle. You will often see it danced at the Social Nights by some of our students. The dance itself was developed in Havana, Cuba in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The pairs of dancers form a circle, with dance moves called out by one person, a caller. Many moves have hand signs to complement the calls; these are useful in noisy venues, where spoken calls might not be easily heard. Many of the moves involve the swapping of partners. The names of the moves are mostly in Spanish, some in English. A very social and fun dance to take part in.

You must have completed the beginners salsa level before attempting this class.

Performance Troupe
This is an opportunity to work towards exciting dance pieces that can be performed throughout the year at various events. If you are interested in being a part of this opportunity, please contact us..
